Uppingham Skills Day
Uppingham Skills Day
Ten Barnardiston pupils from Forms III and IV were made to feel very welcome at Uppingham on Sunday when they attended the annual Uppingham Skills Day.
Jack Ecuyer, Alex Barrow and Oliver Brown opted for 'Basha Building' which involved crawling through grass, wearing camouflage cream and eating food from ration packs as well as learning concealment and survival skills and the art of making shelters!
Lucy Middleton and Isobel Murison greatly enjoyed Dance and Gymnastics and Matthew Murphy, Hettie Meadows and Katie Beaton tried their hands at Archery, Climbing and Water Games. Harry Williams spent a productive day, working in wood in Product Design and Katy Robson made a life-sized sculpture of a sleeping rabbit, while a real-life rabbit slept soundly in its cage in front of her!
The Uppingham staff commented on the childrens' excellent concentration and their keenness to participate and learn new skills. The day ended in the School’s tuck shop where all were given a smart blue Uppingham Skills Day 2012 t-shirt and a badge to take home.
